2014 Election Law Symposium Spotlight: Lawrence Noble

Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Noble is a highly regarded attorney and authority in the field of election law. In particular, his work in campaign ethics and finance is frequently referenced. He will speak at William & Mary this Thursday, Feb. 27th, on the state of political giving post-McCutcheon.
He served on the Federal Election Commission for more than two decades from 1979 to 2000, first as Assistant General Counsel for Litigation, then as Deputy General Counsel, and finally and predominantly as General Counsel.
Afterwards, Mr. Noble worked as executive director and general counsel at the Center for Responsive Politics, where he furthered the organization’s commitment to its mission of being a nonpartisan authority on the influence of money on policy and elections.
Recently, Mr. Noble became the president and CEO of Americans for Campaign Reform, a nonpartisan organization that supports public funding of congressional and presidential elections.
His career has brought him before the Supreme Court and Congress as well as nationally-syndicated news programs by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), the National Broadcasting Company (NBC), and CBS Broadcasting.
And this Thursday, February 27th, 2014, Mr. Noble will come before scholars in the William & Mary community to speak at the William & Mary Election Law Program’s 2014 Symposium, McCutcheon and the World of Political Giving: A Fundamental Change?
